Working with other people

As you know, we are in the midst of trying to move house!

I'm really lucky that Lucy has been through this before, meaning that meeting about mortgages and estate agent jargon aren't completely alien to us. She has tried to teach me (when I'm awake enough to listen! oops), but overall I think we know what we're doing.

It's just everyone else now.

Because we've been wanting to move for a long time now, and Lucy has a bit of a summer break from her job, she's had quite a lot of time to prepare for the move. Everything had been organised, so much so that we actually made an offer on a house about a week after we had met with our estate agents. Unfortunately this was rejected, and it's hard not to feel like there are so many things in the big chain that are out of your control. When you're having to remind professionals to do things they were supposed to do three weeks ago, and you haven't had anyone view your house, you feel very dependent on others to be able to change your life!

It was seeming a bit too simple! Hopefully we wont have any horror stories you hear about, (even the move into our current flat took 3 months longer than expected...), and if we keep organised then this wont delay us any more than is necessary.

We are now up for Sale and are hoping that the viewings will come flooding in.

Exciting times

Home alone all day today

Was wondering what to do with whole day free with no plans... 


but I went crazy on the cleaning and washed 5 loads of clothes washing and am trying very hard to dry it all! I have also deep cleaned the kitchen all the skirting boards and tops of cupboards and cleaned and tidied all the kitchen cupboards and cleared all other rooms of mess.
I enjoy cleaning like this but day to day cleaning yawn!!!!

Too many numbers

When ever I have watched property programmes in the past I have always wondered how people say 'we have around xx-xxx to spend' and how they can't afford something and then suddenly they can!! 
Now I get it! We have been juggling figures taking a bit from here adding a bit from there looking at intestest rates and generally mulling over, what in fact are, totally arbitrary figures because 
a) we don't know how much our house will sell for, as the valuations were 20K different and
b) we don't know which house, for which price, with how much work to do.
So I rest with one question 
how much do I think it is all worth?
... and the answer is?!?!?........ (diddily squat if I am having to claim on these life insurance policies everyone is trying to sell me!)


Well at least I am not alone Emma has really been trying (despite the tiredness, the lack of experience and huge lack of information I have provided her with) to support me and help me along the decision process. Over the last week I have had too much time to think about our new house and our move (and the cost of it all) and I have left Emma trailing behind not really knowing where we are at, so now I am slowing down and consulting my wife and thinking things through with her        well thats the plan anyway I'll let you know how we get on (or maybe Emma will).

Big Day Today

We have a very tidy house, never before has every room been tidy and clean the mess has just moved from room to room. even the inside of cupboards are tidy! Fingers crossed for valuations.


The this afternoon we are going to visit 2 houses and I am so excited!
