Good Morning

One thing where Emma and I differ is our wake up routine!
I can snooze with the best of them but  I can also wake up, hop out of bed, get up, dressed and ready to leave the house in minutes, Emma on the other hand has to set her alarm hours before she needs to leave the house and potter about before she goes anywhere. Classic example of this, this morning we need to leave the house at around 10.30am Emma set her alarm for 7.15am what the hell is that! We often over lap because of this, she wakes up at 4am to get to work and I go to bed at 4am because I get carried away in my work.
Routine is definitely something we need to work on! We both have jobs where there is little routine or pattern involved but when Emma qualifies and gets a job hopefully we will be able to put a system in place! Before a baby comes along and messes it all up!

Proud!

Emma is currently in the final stages of her degree and we are very focused on her doing the best she can and getting a good job. Yesterday Emma had a Maths and Literacy test for a job she has ben shortlisted for. She did very well but I am glad it was her not me taking the test, it sounds very hard even for someone as bright as my beautiful wife!
Today Emma had to make a presentation which we rehearsed a lot at home and she was very competent and well prepared for. I have not seen her yet, but apparently it went well-ish.
I was thinking this morning that presentations are something that I am used to in my  work  and feel very confident doing, as I teach and present my ideas all the time. However I have just discovered that I am the only member of staff that is free to do a funding presentation tomorrow morning(!) and my confidence has slipped slightly. I am however excited at the prospect of getting to talk about my wonderful company and show off about all the great work we do for kids and theatre in Birmingham and our successes. Wish us luck!

Space for Creativity

Creativity, light and space are very important to Emma and I and in our new home we want to create a craft/utility space for us to design and make.
At the moment our Living room is a sofa sitting, tv watching, teaching, reading, crafting, making, typing, researching, display case and storage area all rolled in to one!
In our new home each room will have a specific function and all rooms will have a space to sit with a cuppa!

What to Expect When You're Expecting

We went to see this film today. It made me cry and laugh out loud, it is not as funny as I think it should/could be - there are a lot of funny jokes to be made around pregnancy and parenthood that they (maybe knowingly) came very close to but didn't quite make. But it does empathy and heart ache in a big way it is very sentimental!
What I don't particularly like about the film is we are not allowed to choose which characters we like, they are clearly set up as the good, the bad, the stupid, the comedian, and the annoying. I do however like this style of film where we track several characters journey though ever decreasing circles until they all wind up same place, same time. I like a good formula it lets you focus on the emotion and plot of the film. Not that this film is particularly intellectually challenging! But it did spark off a great discussion about BABIES yay!

Teacups theme

The theme of our wedding was teacups. Here are a few things that we used to generate that theme.

We were lucky that there were quite a few teacup themed things in the shops, so we could buy accessories to match and to push the theme forward.

Moving house

We are very specific about where we want to move to.  I keep daily tabs on the houses for sale on these streets both in person and on Rightmove. It seams other people have very similar taste to me, as these houses are up for sale just long enough to fall in love with and then they are snapped up (and move to my other search group the SOLD subject to contract group which I also keep close tabs on!).
Ideal house - maybe a little out of our range!
This is a rare layout but we want it!
This being said our flat isn't even up for sale yet. Emma is in the final year of her degree and is very busy with essays and final placements, so we are waiting until all the essays are handed in and the job interviews have started before we get some estate agents round. The flat also needs to be de-cluttered - this is a bit of a dilemma because we both have so many books and possessions. We are planning to move to a significantly larger house where the things we do have will be spread over more rooms so we are trying to both increase the necessary and delete the unnecessary!

The reason I am writing about this today is because I have just been adding to our house book. This is a mood book featuring all the rooms we would like to have in our new house. This book was started before we were married and it is interesting how our tastes have evolved. I am an ardent reader of house and home magazines, and cut out pictures that I like and find other images of inspiration to stick in the book. The biggest pages of growth at the moment is guest and children's bedrooms mainly inspired by the owls!
We have also brought but not yet used a Cath Kidston planning your home book which is essentially a fancy scrap and list book.
